The 3rd Edition of the International Environmental Film Festival (FINCA) will take place from the 3rd to the 10th of May 2016 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Any films dealing with environmental issues and produced after January 1st, 2014 will be able to participate in the Festival competitions. The deadline for all applications is November 30th, 2015.
The aim of the International Environmental Film Festival is to present the best productions dealing with every social issue related to the defense the environment from numerous and original points of view, promoting in this way a critical thinking cinema which contributes to social change. The final program will be released in April 2016 and will include long, medium and short films as well as fiction works, documentaries, essays, animations and experimental films.
The main thematic focuses will be: Food Sovereignty, Waste and Pollution, Mines and Petroleum, Climate Change, Renewable Energy, Ecosystem, Deforestation, Biodiversity, Sustainability and Human Rights.
The OFFICIAL COMPETITION will be divided into: Feature Films Competition and Short and Medium-Length Films International Competition.
The FINCA is an initiative of the Instituto Multimedia DerHumALC – IMD (Human Rights of Latin America and the Caribbean), a non-profit organization based in Buenos Aires. It is known for carrying out 16 editions of the International Human Rights Film Festival and was created in the interests of strengthening the research, study, teaching and diffusion of Human Rights, through the use of audiovisual resources and new technologies.
