The 31st FIFE (Paris, FRANCE) is ready to start.

A week to discover, to be surprised, to be moved, to get indignant, to react and act. The 31st FIFE – Festival International du film d’environnement will take place in Paris (France) next February 4th-11th, 2014.

Since its creation, the FIFE wishes to give awareness, to inform, and to show the fragility of our planet. Cinema is an amazing media to show the efforts taken by those men and women who fight against fatalism and look for solutions. The selected short and feature films, documentaries, fictions and webdocumentaries echo those individual and collective initiatives destined to fight, to move our world forward.

For 2014, the FIFE is back with 110 films and 22 international webdocumentaries. The FIFE enlights unexpected thematics like an Animal Focus, but also themes like exploitation of soil and sub-soil resourceswater and biodiversityHealth and environmentthe social challenges of sustainable development.

Resuming the Mediterranean Sea tour, the FIFE takes a look on documentary creations from Egypt, Tunisia, Spain, three countries in turmoil, where awareness and ecological initiatives are truly real. But also, there will be a midnight screening, a.k.a. “Midnight Greenness”, called this way to pay tribute to the Midnight screenings of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The Fife looks for a selection of works about environmental themes through genre cinema.

And the Fife will give an appointment to the young audience (4 and more) for a selection of short films called Eco Kids. For the first time, the children will vote !

The Fife is a place of debates and meetings, with the creation of a new appointment, the “Bistrot Philo”, a place of dialogue and discussion with a philosopher.

This year, inside the official competition, eight awards will be offered, from 1.000 to 10.000 euros.
