17th Planet in Focus, upcoming deadline

Planet in Focus, in its 17th year, is Canada’s leading environmental film organization showcasing and promoting outstanding environmental films and videos in all genres (documentaries, dramatic, experimental, short films, animation, youth & educational) by Canadian and international filmmakers. New this year, Planet in Focus will be including cash awards to the best film winners.

Submission Fees *REDUCED*
Early Bird Submission Deadline – April 4th, 2016
Short Films – $15 CDN
Mid-Length & Feature Films (30 minutes or more) – $25 CDN

General Submission Deadline – May 2nd, 2016
Short Films – $20 CDN
Mid-Length & Feature Films (30 minutes or more) – $30 CDN

Late Submission Deadline – May 27th, 2016
Short Films – $30 CDN
Mid-Length & Feature Films (30 minutes or more) – $40 CDN

Submission Guidelines
Only films completed after January 1st, 2014 will be considered for official selection. Film and video submissions include stories and explorations of urban and rural spaces; wildlife; social, cultural and political environments; farming; Aboriginal perspectives; health and environment; climate change; human displacement; war; globalization; water; farming; forests, food security and more. All foreign language films must have English subtitles.
In addition to our regular public screenings, we host an Industry Day with panels, workshops and pitch sessions devoted to the subject of film production, distribution and funding.
Planet in Focus also produces a variety of educational programs for students across Canada. Youth related and educational programming is a major focus of our mandate. Please submit all age and curriculum ranges of student-focused films.
