Spring 2005. National Geographic photographer James Balog, skeptical about the ominous scenarios scientists had projected of global warming, went to the North Pole to photograph the effects of climate change. The documentation would be one of the magazine’s most read articles, leading to the launch of the Extreme Ice Survey, the most extensive photographic documentation of glaciers carried out so far, which will follow annual environmental changes in the Arctic and around the world. The soundtrack includes Before My Time sung by Scarlett Johansson.

France, 2014 | 90’ | Director: Marie-Monique Robin
While crisis settles down durably in Europe and in the rest of the world, the movie alternates active experiments and the words of experts that speak together to draw the roads of transition towards the post-growth society. Facing the crisis and ecological risks, we have to rethink from top to bottom our society pattern built on growth. Local and united, alternative solutions exist. Marie-Monique Robin’s documentary shows us the ones that – maybe – will guide our future.
